The round robin phase of the NGS Season 3 is underway! Each team typically schedules two games per week and at the end of the round robin phase they will have played each team in a Best of 2 series. Each team scores 1 point for each win and gain a ‘domination’ bonus point if they take the series 2-0.
Division A is the highest skilled division in NGS. This group contains HGC and Heroes of the Dorm contenders. The league will play a round robin phase and then the top teams will be selected for a playoff. Let’s take a look at the standings:
After the first week Fratres and Team Caliber jumped out to an early lead by earning domination points for each of their games this week.
Division B is the mid-level skill division in NGS. The teams in this division tend to be teams that have played multiple seasons together, have individually skilled players, or some combination of the two. Division B is split into two regions. The teams in this division play a round robin phase where they play each team in their region, then the highest finishers in each region enter a playoff. The championship of Division B will be the best team in the East region against the best team in the West region. Let’s take a look at the standings:
After the first week, Game of Throws and Jailbait have themselves a good start to the season by sweeping two series. Wasted Potential swept one series and had a draw in the other. Order of the Sleeping Dragon, Sponsored by Rory, and Throwing? are each 1-1, but swept their series win.
Division C is the lower skill division in NGC. The teams in this division tend to be new, have individually low skilled players, some combination of the two, or just love clown fiestas! Division C is where you go to play HotS as a team, the way it is meant to be played, without the pressure of performance expected in the higher divisions. Division C, like Division B, is split into two regions. The teams in this division play a round robin phase where they play each team in their region, then the highest finishers in each region enter a playoff. The championship of Division C will be the best team in the East region against the best team in the West region. Let’s take a look at the standings:
After the first week no one in this region has separated themselves from the pack with four teams sweeping their only game of the week.
As expected there are not many conclusions to draw from the first week of NGS. We will be watching next week’s report with anticipation to see if the teams that jumped out to an early lead can maintain their positions and to see if other teams adjust and can scrap out some wins.
